About Charleville Community Childcare

Charleville Community Childcare CLG. is located on Broad Street, Charleville Co. Cork. Our childcare comprises of a Crèche, Montessori rooms and School Age Childcare. The centre is purpose built and has been in operation since 2001. Our staff are highly experienced and qualified up to level 9. 


Our childcare offers quality early childcare and education to the local community. The curriculum for each room, designed and planned by staff and management, is appropriate for each child's age and stage of development, incorporating the Aistear and Síolta frameworks. 

Learning & Fun

The Montessori method of education is implemented in the Montessori rooms. The curriculum is play-based and follows the interests of the children in our care. The School Age Childcare offers support to children with their homework and encompasses a wide range of activities. 

Friendly Place

Our childcare is a community based service located in the heart of Charleville town offering childcare services to children from 6 months to 12 years. The centre promotes child and family well-being. Opportunities and activities are offered through the expertise of qualified staff. 

Child Safety

Our childcare centre promotes the safety and wellbeing of children in our care. Staff are trained in First Aid and as First Aid Responders. The safe and spacious physical environment, experienced friendly staff and adherence to Tusla regulations ensure the provision of an effective, quality service. All services are monitored by closed-circuit television. 

Fresh & Healthy Meals

Nutritious meals are supplied from Broad Street Restaurant, Broad Street, Charleville. Healthy eating is promoted in our childcare centre.

Our Services

Crèche / Montessori 3

Our Crèche offers services for babies from 6 months of age. As babies become toddlers, they progress into the Montessori 3 room. The Montessori 3 room caters for children up to preschool age. The rooms open at 8:30am with bookings starting at 8:30am and 9:00am. The rooms close at 6:00pm with bookings finishing at 3:00pm, 5:00pm and 6:00pm. Healthy snacks and meals are provided throughout the day with the dinner supplied from Broad Street Restaurant. The curriculum is age and stage appropriate, child-led and incorporates the Aistear and Síolta frameworks. Parents of children attending the Crèche and Montessori 3 rooms can apply for a subsidy towards their fees through the National Childcare Scheme (NCS) on www.ncs.gov.ie

Pre-school rooms: Montessori 1, Montessori 2 and Montessori 4

The Montessori rooms are pre-school rooms offering the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) scheme. Free childcare places are offered to children eligible for the ECCE scheme subject to availability. To be eligible, children must be at least 2 years and 8 months by the 31st of August of each year.  Children can avail of 2 years of free preschool. The ECCE scheme covers 3 hours free per day, from 9:00am to 12:00pm, 5 days per week (Monday to Friday) for 38 weeks per year (as per our ECCE calendar). Healthy snacks and meals are provided throughout the day with the dinner supplied from Broad Street Restaurant. The Montessori method of Education is taught as part of the curriculum which is child-led incorporating the Aistear and Síolta frameworks. Parents / guardians can avail of extra hours outside of the preschool hours (subject to availability). Start times are either 8:30am or 9:00am. Finish times are 12:00pm, 3:00pm, 5:00pm and 6:00pm. Parents of children attending the Montessori rooms can apply for a subsidy towards their fees (for hours outside of the ECCE scheme) through the National Childcare Scheme (NCS) on www.ncs.gov.ie

School Age Childcare

The School Age Childcare (SAC) caters for children attending National School up to 12 years of age. The SAC is open from 2:00pm to 6:00pm from Monday to Friday. Children can avail of homework support and take part in a range of activities. Hot meals are supplied from Broad Street Restaurant. The booking start times are as follows:

1:45pm Bus collection from St. Josephs Infant School, Charleville.*

2:00pm Parent drop off from St. Josephs Infant School, Charleville. 

2:30pm Parent drop off from Charleville CBS (Christian Brothers School), Charleville. 

2:45pm Parent drop off from St. Annes Primary School, Charleville.

The booking finish times are 5:00pm and 6:00pm. 

Parents of children attending the School Age Childcare can apply for a subsidy towards their fees through the National Childcare Scheme (NCS) on www.ncs.gov.ie

*The bus collection is for children attending St. Joseph's Infant School only with a School Age Childcare booking. Places are limited and subject to availability.

Broad Street Restaurant

Broad Street Restaurant supplies hot meals to Charleville Community Childcare CLG. The restaurant is open to the public for breakfast and dinner. Home made baking can be bought and ordered from the Restaurant. 

Waiting List

The waiting list for Early Learning and Care (ELC) and School Age Childcare (SAC) applicable to 

September 2026 to July 2027 will open in September 2025. 

The waiting list form can be completed in the childcare reception from September 2025.

The National Childcare Scheme is open to all children attending our childcare centre in the Crèche, Montessori rooms and School Age Childcare. All parents / guardians can apply for a universal subsidy towards their fees or can opt to apply for an income assessed subsidy. What to do next?

- Apply for  the National Childcare Scheme on www.ncs.gov.ie

- On receiving a NCS award, take note of the 'CHICK' number.

- Parents / guardians of children attending Charleville Community Childcare CLG. can give this 'CHICK' number to the childcare office, with the child's name as per NCS application and the child's date of birth. 

- Sign in to the NCS parent website and confirm the agreed hours.

- Take note of the award amount and the dates the award applies to.

- Sign NCS forms when requested to do so.

What to do next?

- Check your child's eligibility for the ECCE scheme.

- Parents / guardians of children attending/booked in to Charleville Community Childcare CLG. who are eligible for the ECCE scheme, should bring their child's birth certificate and proof of PPS number to the childcare office.

- Sign ECCE forms when requested to do so.
